Ingredients for Sesame and TVP Cabbage Rolls:
Green Cabbage – Cabbage becomes tender after a quick simmer, making it much easier to roll without breaking. It’s also rich in fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants.
Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP)– TVP is an affordable, high-protein plant-based ingredient made from soy. Once rehydrated, it develops a hearty, ground meat-like texture that’s perfect for fillings like these cabbage rolls. It’s great for absorbing flavors and sauces.
Red Onion– Red onion adds a subtle sweetness and a bit of crunch that balances the savory flavors of the filling.
Carrot– Fresh grated carrot brings natural sweetness, color, and moisture while adding extra vitamins and fiber.
Cilantro– Cilantro adds a bright, fresh flavor that lightens the richness of the filling and complements the sesame and garlic beautifully. This ingredient adds so much to the overall flavor of the recipe.
Sesame Seeds– Toasted sesame seeds contribute a nutty flavor and a slight crunch, giving these cabbage rolls their signature sesame taste.
Garlic– A single clove of fresh garlic adds depth and savory aroma without overpowering the other ingredients.
Coconut Aminos– Coconut aminos provide a naturally sweet and savory umami flavor similar to soy sauce but with less sodium, making them the perfect finishing touch.
Sea Salt & Black Pepper– Simple seasonings that enhance all of the fresh, savory flavors in the filling.
Avocado Oil Spray– A light coating of avocado oil helps the cabbage rolls brown beautifully in the oven.
